Native Plant Society Greenway Presentation

The Native Plant Society meets the second Wednesday of the month at the Holiday Inn in Boone.  Doors open at 6:30 and the meeting starts at 7pm.  The February meeting will highlight the Middle Fork Greenway.  The program will highlight the developing pedestrian and cycling paved path that will connect Blowing Rock to the existing Boone Greenway.  The 6.5 mile Middle Fork Greenway will follow the Middle Fork New River and Hwy 321 corridor providing connections to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mountains-to-Sea trail, Shoppes on the Parkway, Tweesie, Mystery Hill, pocket parks and other natural areas.  Wendy Patoprsty, the Middle Fork Greenway Director will talk about the benefits of greenways for humans, birds, aquatic life, and plants.  Specifically the riparian corridor of greenways can provide links for native riparian species to thrive and protect our water supply.
